Football is such a big thing here in the DFW area. Especially the Dallas Cowboys or as they are often called, "America's Team". I never really thought much about football or even knew how the game was played until we got married. It was then that Jack educated me on his favorite Team - the Dallas Cowboys. Eight years ago October 3rd, the day after we got married, we were on our way from El Paso to San Antonio when the Dallas Cowboys game came on the radio. Here we are driving down the highway and Jack is trying to drive and draw me a picture of the basic plays going on in the game. I look back now and laugh. Because I didn't have the slightest clue on anything he was saying. Now I am not an expert on football, but I get the general idea of plays and what not. Earlier this year, we were given tickets to several Dallas Desperados Arena Football games. Even though arena football (AFL) has its differences from NFL, going to those games helped me understand football a little better. When I tell people that I like to watch football they are usually surprised. Of course, not as surprised as when I tell them that hockey is also one of my favorites. I guess I must not come across as an "aggressive football fan". But, nevertheless, I do enjoy watching the games. Last season, it is a well-known fact that the Cowboys didn't do so good. But, as the news of Wade Phillips becoming their new Head Coach and their training was underway...I had high hopes and expectations for this season. I have been impressed so far. They are 3-0. They whooped up on the Chicago Bears last night in the second half. But as Jack and I discussed last night...if they lose a game this season...it will be difficult to accept.
I know there are more important things in life to discuss on my daily blogs than football, but this blog is about getting to know me. And, as weird as it may seem to some, football is a family favorite around here. As long as it doesn't come between me and my relationship with God - that is what is important. Last season, Game day was a big day for us to get together with my In-laws. Especially after my sister-in-law passed away. I guess because it is a common interest between us all. But, enough of my babbling about football. I must get back to the kids home schooling. I hope all you out in "blogland" have a great day!
