Developing The Image On Our "Film" Called Life

When you develop film photographic or x-ray, it must be done in a darkroom lit by a safelight. The developing does a couple of things: it transforms the latent image into a visible image that can be seen and it makes the visible image permanent and resistant to deterioration with time.

Brother T.F. Tenney preached this morning at our church. He said so many things that sparked some ideas for separate studies for me. But one that stuck out first was: "The image of Christ is often developed in darkness". The instant he said that, I thought of when I worked at a Chiropractic Clinic in Bismarck, North Dakota. One of the doctors taught me how to develop the x-rays. If the film was exposed to light, it would ruin the film. Thus, I had to take the film case into the darkroom, shut and lock the door tight and turn on the safelight. Then I would put the case into the film process machine. When the process was completed I would take the case to the doctor and the x-ray was visible for him to locate the problem areas.

During our lives, we go through "dark" times. Times when it seems we can see the face of God. During those times, we may even question if He knows where we are at and if He is going to intervene in our situation. But just as there is a certain way to process film before we can see the visible and permanent image...sometimes we have to go through dark times to see the image of Jesus in our lives. During that developing process, there is an image that begins to appear on the "film" of our life. That image that once seemed invisible because our focus was on our situation becomes very visible. Not only can we see it, but it becomes permanent and resistant to deterioration! During those dark times, God is developing our faith and our character. We are always willing to praise Him during the good times. But, during those dark times it may be more difficult. But if we can get into a mind set of praising during those painful and dark times, we will praise our way out of the darkness. Then we will come out of our situations stronger, more mature and wiser.

So, if you are faced with dark times, go into your "darkroom" of prayer and praise and allow God to develop your "film"...you will see that He is there and that He will not leave you but bring you out of these dark times victorious in Him!
