In Psalm 90:12 it says, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." As I was catching up on reading my email, I read this and begin to ponder what it meant. I begin to think that each day is a precious gift from God. To break it down, to number our days...we should take careful consideration about each day we are blessed with. Why? So that we may use each day for the purpose God intended us to. By doing this through prayer, we will develop good judgment, insight and knowledge about each day. There are really some simple principles to apply to each day to ensure that we are using it as God intended for us to.
1) In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
2) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:18
3) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
4) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12
I could go on and on with principles to help each one of us to consider our days and use them wisely and develop wisdom in our lives. But it is all within the pages of the greatest book ever written. The one that is inspired by God Almighty himself. All it takes is picking it up and taking out time to read and study it every day.
I am SO thankful for the Word of God. I am also thankful for the blessing of having one more precious day with which I can reach out to others and make a difference just as HE has made a difference in my life.
