Last year it was so dry here in North Texas. This year so far it has been literally raining buckets in some areas! Marble falls, Texas received 18-19 inches the other day. A week ago Gainsville has some major flooding. We have needed the rain, but it has saddens me to hear that 5 children so far have lost their lives due to flash flooding. The end of this rain is not nearing anytime soon. According to the "weatherman", in July we will have above normal rainfall also.
Have you ever noticed when it rains alot people seems to be more tired? They could get a good nights sleep and still be yawning all day. Maybe because it is soothing to hear the rain gently (or in some cases lately pounding) on the rooftops. We I was a child living in Valley City, North Dakota, we lived in a mobile home. I used to love to hear the rain pinging on the metal roof. I remember when I would get a little scared of the thunder, my Grandpa would tell me not to be afraid...the angels were just bowling and the sound of the thunder was the ball rolling down the lane. I would picture it in my mind...angels in long flowing white robes taking the bowling ball and rolling it down the lane. Then every so often when the lightning and thunder would boom, I would imagine that the angels just bowled a STRIKE!
There are many times I miss my Grandpa being alive to see my children grow up. But, every time it rains and thunders, I remember what he said. It is just the angels bowling. Last night, I heard the thunder rolling and then real loud BOOM. Yep, those angels played a good game last night.
Though it may seem that we are getting too much rain, I still want to have a thankful heart. And, I whisper a prayer that my friends and family will be safe during the times of flash flooding. Oh, and when I hear the thunder roll...I hope the angels are having a fun game of bowling.
